This course is a comprehensive introduction to sailing for aspiring skippers. It will equip you with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters, mainly during daylight hours.

The course covers the basics of coastal navigation and pilotage:
Chart-work
Position fixing
Tides
Plotting a course to steer
Meteorology
Electronic aids to navigation
Seamanship
Anchoring and rope work
Safety and emergency procedures
Rules of the road
Lights and Buoyage

No prior knowledge is assumed but some practical experience of boating is desirable

Minimum duration: 40 hours of tuition and 4 hours for assessments
