A more advanced course that will provide the theory knowledge you require for your Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster practical examinations, and help prepare you to skipper longer offshore and night-time passages.

It is designed for skippers and watch leaders who have already completed the elementary course, or who have the necessary sailing, motor cruising or offshore racing experience.

Starting with some revision of the basics, the course covers advanced navigation and meteorology in the context of planning and executing passage plans.
The course also looks in greater detail at the International Regulations for Prevention of Collisions at Sea.

Minimum duration: 40 hours of tuition and 6 hours for asessments

Pre-requisite Experience

Students should have completed the Day Skipper courses or have a knowledge of basic navigation and a reasonable amount of sailing or motor cruising experience.
